New Mexico: Landscapes

New Mexico’s nickname  is The Land of Enchantment. This legend was placed on New Mexico license plates in 1941 and became the official State Nickname of New Mexico on April 8, 1999. It describes New Mexico’s scenic beauty and its rich history. These are some of our landscapes.

 

 

New Mexico: The San Juan Basin Badlands

The San Juan Basin of New Mexico contains a number of badlands and wilderness areas. The nine major badlands are: the Ojito Wilderness, the Ah-Shi-Sle-Pah WSA, the Bisti Wilderness, the De Na Zin Wilderness, Lybrook, Ceja Pelon, Penistaja, Mesa De Cuba, and San Jose.
